“This work was inspired by 17th and 18th-century Dutch flower paintings and vanitas still life. From the first glimpse, it looks like a very decorative flower painting, but upon closer look, one can notice a part of a skull hidden behind the vase. I wanted to paint the flowers as a symbol of the fleeting nature of youth and beauty as a reminder that all physical things are temporary and what really matters cannot be seen or touched.”
This is an original oil painting on a handcrafted canvas panel.
